Celebrate My Drive Teen Driver Survivor Challenge

Event Information and Description:

Crime Stoppers of Tangipahoa is hosting a free teen driver safety event in Ponchatoula at Gabriel’s Building Supply on Saturday, October 26th from 1 to 5pm in their parking lot. CST’s partners on the Project are local State Farm Agents Patty Hubert and Alexis Ducorbier, the Ponchatoula High School FFA Club, and the TRACC (Tangipahoa-Reshaping Attitudes For Community Change) Coalition. The Ponchatoula Police Department and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office will be participating as well.

The event is called “Celebrate My Drive Teen Driver Survivor Challenge”. This event encourages teens to make positive choices as they start driving. We hope to help them stay safe as they explore the road ahead.

WHY: Crashes are the #1 killer of Teens. Their first year of driving is the most dangerous.

WHEN: It is during National Teen Driver Safety Week ( October 18 – 26th)

The event is free. Our event will have 4-5 challenges that students can participate in as teams of four – thus the “survivor” theme. Each challenge will be set around a teen driving safety topic, where they will listen to an expert in that topic area, then take their new knowledge and compete in a related physical challenge. The challenges will be: Texting/Distracted Driving, Driving Under the Influence, Car Care and Maintenance, and General Driving Safety – “The Rules of the Road”.

The team with the best overall times on completing the challenges will earn a fabulous prize ( to be announced at a later date). There will also be give-aways for those who participate as well as either T-shirts or buffs given to the participants while quantities last.

For participating in this event (Ponchatoula High FFA) will earn the opportunity to win a $100,000 grant for Ponchatoula High School as well as a concert by a chart-topping Kelly Clarkson music artist at their school.

New teen drivers and current teen drivers are invited to participate in this great event! We welcome anyone who would like to join us and Celebrate My Drive!
